MORGAN CAR SALES NEWS

Morgan 4/4 Sport

Earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show the SuperSports took pride of place on the Morgan stand and the interest in the car was enormous.

The Morgan Aero SuperSports is the quickest, most beautiful and luxurious Morgan built to-date – well we think so. This marvellous car needs to be seen for you to fully appreciate its exquisite lines – it really is stunning!

Morgan 4/4 Sport

What you may not appreciate is that the SuperSports shares its platform with the highly successful Morgan Aero SuperSports GT3 race car, which you may remember, won on its first outing in 2009 at Silverstone. A glance at the fundamental specifications listed below of the GT3 Race Car and the road-going SuperSports confirms that this new Morgan Model is not for the ‘faint-hearted’!

SERVICING & REPAIRS NEWS

Morgan 4/4 Sport

We are carrying out the finishing touches to Morgan’s famous 1939 Le Mans car – FXD 280. This car was rescued from America and entrusted to Techniques for a ground up rebuild. Much of the original car survived although in a parlous state. We have managed to restore the body frame, carefully grafting in new ash where required, and have made repairs to the all steel body. It has recently returned from our paint shop where the original green paint has been matched to that still present on some of the panels. The car is being readied for its return to Le Mans at the fifth running of the Le Mans Classic in July.

On an historical note, FXD 280 finished the 1939 Le Mans race in 15th position and 2nd in class narrowly missing out on the biennial, Rudge Whitworth Cup. The car was driven by ‘Dick’ Anthony and Geoffrey White. It is established that FXD 280 was the same car that completed the 1938 Le Mans race driven by Prudence Fawcett and Geoffrey White. For 1939, the car was re-bodied and re-registered.
The Le Mans Morgan will soon be leaving our workshops allowing us to take on further restorations. Please call to discuss your requirements.

PARTS NEWS

Side impact door bar kits

Our Side Impact Door Bar kits have become very popular recently, suitable for all Morgans fitted with an underscuttle roll bar and conventional roll bar. They are clamped and bolted to the existing bars and so are fully removable if required. These bars are designed for the competitive Morgan to provide protection from side impact.

RACING NEWS

We are about to embark on another busy racing season supporting our customers in the Morgan Challenge and historic races all over Europe.

Jonathon Rushton with his Techniques prepared Morgan +4

Last year our customers achieved considerable success. Not least, was Jonathon Rushton driving his historic racing +4 in the HSCC Historic Road Sports series. Jonathan picked up 3 class wins on route to be crowned overall champion. It was anything but easy for Jonathon, with the outcome of the championship being decided in the final race of the season. Jonathon held his nerve winning both his class and the championship by a mere five points from a very rapid Lotus Elan.

Tim Clark driving his Techniques prepared Morgan +8

We were also very pleased for Tim Clark who drove his Techniques prepared Morgan +8 with skill and consistency throughout the Morgan Challenge Race series during 2009. Tim was narrowly pipped at the post to become the overall championship runner up, although he did secure his class
championship.

We also look back at 2009 with some pride with our customers racing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival, the Silverstone Classic and the Le Mans 24 Hour support race. These are some of the most prestigious historic race meetings on the calendar and we are pleased to report that our customers and their Morgans acquitted themselves well.
