Powertorque Morgan Motor Company Challenge - Season Review
Our customers had another fantastic year in the Morgan race series culminating with Philip Goddard being crowned overall champion in his Morgan +8 having won every round and setting fastest lap and qualifying his car in pole position in Class C8 at every circuit. An ecstatic Phil said "I've had a fantastic season with the car being 100% reliable - a real credit to all the staff at Techniques, I can't thank them enough". Techniques prepared Racing Morgans have now won the Morgan Challenge overall Championship four times.

Peter Horsman won an ultra competitive Class B in his Techniques prepared Morgan +8 winning two races outright. This is the 5th time that Peter has won Class B - a remarkable record

Peter Henry drove his ‘road going’ ivory +8 to every race and
after competing in Class B, drove home again!!

Ray Higgs was unable to attend many rounds this year
but we are hoping that he can return for a full season in 2008.
This was the first year that we had supported Paul Burry in his factory fresh Morgan Roadster. After failing to finish in the first 3 races, Paul stormed back to winning ways, winning six of the remaining seven rounds only to narrowly miss out on the C6 championship by 1 point.

Our other customers competed well, not all without incident. Chris Springall, Sharlie Goddard, Leigh Sebba and Steve McDonald finished 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th respectively in Class C8. We were also able to help out Tim Clark after a major off at Mallory Park, returning his car in fine fettle to compete at Spa and then for Tim to drive home via Geneva and Paris!!
In class D, we were pleased to be able to provide track side support to Mark Gilbert Smith and David Frow with their Rover engined +4s and John Clarke in his Morgan +4SS.
Historic Racing
The Silverstone Classic is quickly becoming established as one of the 'must do' races of the year. This year we were delighted to support John Clarke and Peter Horsman bring home John's Morgan 4-4LM to a class win in the pre war BRDC 500 one hour race.

Adrian Van der Kroft was out in 'XOV' the ex Ray Meredith racing +4
of the 1960's, taking a fine 2nd place in class in the Masters Sports Car Series.
Adrian and John took 1st and 2nd in class respectively at the Oulton Park Gold Cup race meeting in their Series 1s with John going on to be crowned under 1100cc class champion in the Pre War Legends Series. John also took his Series 1 to Porto and Spa coming 2nd in class in each case.
We had a terrific weekend at Zandvoort with our customers. Adrian Van Der Kroft took 'Big Blue' the factory GT car, 'XOV', his Series 1 and his recently restored moss box +8. This is the car we have been painstakingly restoring during 2007. We are pleased to report that the Moss Box +8 performed faultlessly taking two class wins.

Leigh Sebba also achieved a personal milestone finishing on the podium
in the MG, Triumph and Morgan sports car race.
Morgans took all 3 Podium places by the way; I wonder whether we'll be invited back!!

Adrian and Peter Horsman took the Moss Box +8 to Spa where they finished 4th overall and the 1st Morgan home after 1 hours racing. In a huge field of over 60 cars, Adrian and Peter were only beaten by two very rapid Aston Martins and an AC Cobra!
Finally, we continue to prepare Phil McKelvey's ultra rare Morgan +8 Lightweight for HSCC events. Phil competes in the pre 1970's road sports series and consistently finishes well up the field.
The Techniques Trophy
One of the highlight of our year was organising our second race for 4 cylinder Morgans competing for the Techniques Trophy. Held in beautiful sunshine at the historic Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Silverstone, we received a bumper 16 entries. These ranged from a flat rad +4 to a very rapid 'Tomcat Turbo' 4/4 racer. There were some very rare Morgans on display including Keith Ahlers and his immaculate Morgan +4 SLR.
The race ran without incident with Chas Windridge bringing home his 'Tomcat turbo' to a dominant win.

Driver of the day was awarded to John Clarke for his epic battle fending off Mark Gilbert Smith for 4th place. John and Mark swapped places many times with the +4SS finally seeing off the Rover engined +4 on the last lap.
The Techniques Trophy will be held again next year at the Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Silverstone.

Techniques Morgans to appear on Fox TV
Leigh Sebba and John Clarke will be appearing on a motoring special programme dedicated to the Morgan sports car. The programme features Leigh's very rare Morgan +4+ and John's Morgan 4-4LM Race Car. The programme is due to go out in 2008 but sadly, only in the USA.
