MORGAN SALES and DEVELOPMENTS

AeroMax SOLD OUT!

After a tremendous surge of interest at the Geneva Motor Show, the limited run of 100 AeroMax super coupes are all sold out. We have a very excited customer who managed to secure one of the cars and we will able to report on the car's build progress in future bulletins.

The Aeromax attracted a huge amount of talk at Geneva and the stand had to be carefully managed to prevent us being overwhelmed. The Morgan Aero and the traditional roadsters also sold well.

We were delighted to meet Jacques Lafitte and his daughter Margaritte who will both be driving the Morgan Aero GT in the FIA GT championships. Margaritte has yet to drive a Morgan but her excitement and enthusiasm for the Morgan was infectious. We were also pleased to meet some members of the Aero 8 Club and the lucky AeroMax owners at the after show drinks party. The future of Morgan looks very rosy.... especially after the 2nd glass of champagne!

Morgan Roadster Lightweight

Our Morgan Roadster Lightweight is now available to customers wishing to try out this fantastic race car. We will be taking our Lightweight to some of Britains best known tracks this summer. Please contact Brian if you want to book up a test session.

SERVICING & REPAIRS NEWS

Spring Servicing

We have been inundated with customers returning to Techniques this month all clamouring to get their car serviced. With the unseasonal hot weather, we have been tremendously busy servcing Morgans of all types and vintages.

All our customer's Morgans get the full factory approved service together with Techniques 'extras' resulting from years of Morgan experience. Remember, we can also get your car an MOT and can provide a courtesy car if required.

1939 Morgan Le Mans Car

The body tub of the Le Mans car has been carefully stripped of its metal work reveiling the true state of the ash frame. Much of the frame is in remarkably good condition and can be readily salvaged. The ash frame is slowly but surely giving up its secrets telling us how the 'no doors' bodyframe was constructed. We can now say for sure that it was not a standard frame with doors subsequently 'deleted' for the 1939 race, but a completely new frame built up from scratch with no doors.

The ash frame is having new wood carefully spliced in and should soon be ready for panelling.

PARTS NEWS

Luggage Racks

The traditional Morgans have a limited amount of luggage carrying capacity. A simple solution is to fit one our high quality luggage racks. We currently have in stock, 2 and 4 seater luggage racks. Made from high-grade stainless steel, these racks fit simply, without drilling, to the rear bumper irons and come complete with stainless steel nuts and bolts. A luggage rack for the new 4 seater and should be available from us soon. Please enquire for prices and availability.

Battery Chargers

We have had great success keeping the batteries of our cars in tip top condition by using C TEK battery charges. Once connected to your battery, the LED display indicates the charge left in your battery and when it is fully charged. It can be left on the car for extended periods as the charger will only cut in when the battery condition is low.

Exhaust Manifolds

We have replaced the standard exhaust manifold on Morgan +8s with our own stainless steel version. Designed to extract the maximum power, our manifolds not only look good, but also help with the smooth flow of exhaust gases with the minimum of interference. We currently have sets of manifolds in stock, please enquire for prices and delivery.

RACING NEWS

Powertorque Morgan Motor Company Challenge Round 1

Team Techniques were out in force at the first race of the Powertorque Morgan Motor Company Race at Snetterton.

Peter Horsman took the overall win and Class B with a dominant display of driving. Paul Burry, debuting the Techniques Roadster, took the Roadster poll position and was leading the class until the "fuel cut out switch" was activated crossing a kerb. Paul had to park the car and watch the rest of the race. Congratulations to Phil Goddard and Leigh Sebba who took 1st and 2nd in Class C8 respectively, and to novice Cathy Sherry for winning Class A in her very first motor race – in years to come, no-one will remember that she was the only entrant in class! Sharlie Goddard drove very well in her new purchase, the ex Martin Kurrein,Challenge championship winning car. Now christened 'The Silver Lady', Sharlie bettered her personal best by 2 seconds. Peter Henry and Steve MacDonald in their Morgan +8s, Ray Higgs in his class B Roadster all drove good races in their Techniques prepared machines to finish well.

MSCC Track Day Mallory Park

Tracy drove Brian's race prepared Morgan +8 at Mallory Park on a beautiful sunny day in April.

Organised by the MSCC and sponsored by Techniques we were delighted to greet a number of our regular customers including Richard Eagle, Steven Dirs and Chris Bailey. Steven had a slight off at Devils Elbow in his Aero 8, more pride damaged than anything else.

Historic Racing

John Clarke was out at the VSCC Spring Start meeting in his 1938 Morgan 4-4 capturing a 2nd in class. The car completed 4 races in readiness for its next outing – the Porto Grand Prix. On a glorious spring day, John put in a succession of personal bests to place the car mid way up the grid and to do battle with much more powerful and exotic machinery. The Morgan 4-4 was also driven by Leigh Sebba, hot foot from his success at Snetterton.

Phil McKelvey and his son Robert were racing their ultra rare Morgan +8 Lightweight at the HSCC meeting at Snetterton after starting at the back of the grid they managed to haul themselves up to 11th position overall from 34 starters, an excellent achievement.
