SERVICING & REPAIRS NEWS

Winter Servicing

Whether you intend to lay your Morgan up until winter is over or continue to use your Morgan, then make sure your car is well prepared with our Winter Service.

We recommend that your Morgan is waxoyled, cooling systems drained and filled with fresh anti-freeze, oil and hydraulic fluids changed or topped up where necessary and all suspension components thoroughly greased. Wire wheels should be cleaned and a protective coating applied. If your Morgan is to be laid up for long periods, then we suggest that the battery is kept in optimum condition with a suitable battery charger.

So with winter rapidly approaching, don’t delay and be sure to give your Morgan the Techniques treatment by contacting us at the address below.

Morgan +8 Moss Box Restoration

We are well on our way bringing back to life an early 1969 Morgan +8. The Morgan was brought to us to have a full ‘nut and ‘bolt’ rebuild to the clients exacting requirements. To date, we have built up the car on a new chassis, replacing the body tub and restoring parts where practical. The gearbox and axle have been overhauled and the engine sent away to be refurbished to a fast road / race specification. We have been able to fit genuine Morgan factory replacement parts and stainless steel fastenings are being used throughout.

This early Morgan +8 is due for completion in the new year and will make room for another exciting restoration project. Please come back and revisit our web site to see the latest developments in our workshop.

Christmas Presents

Christmas is here again and at Techniques we have stocked up with a range of Morgan goodies to satisfy every budget.

Be sure to visit our Performance & Styling section for a range of Christmas gift ideas or call us for other suggestions.

Heated Screens

Those of you lucky enough to have a heated screen fitted to your Morgan will be reaping the benefits as the days get cooler and frost becomes more frequent. They are also excellent at de-misting the screen – a common problem with Morgans driven in wet and dank conditions.

Here at Techniques, we can supply and fit broken heated windscreens and retro fit heated screens to earlier Morgans. We use new rubber seals and where necessary, a new switch and relay. Please contact us for more details.

Afin Brake Drums

At Techniques, we continually strive to introduce new products that will enhance your enjoyment of your Morgan. Our latest addition are Afin Aluminium Brake drums suitable for fitting to all Morgans. Developed for the track, but equally suitable for road cars, the deep cooling fins effectively remove heat from the drums, significantly reducing brake fade. Our drums have been manufactured to the highest standard and are a direct replacement to the standard drum.

Our Afin drums are available in different sizes to fit most Morgan models whether shod with wire or alloy wheels. They can also be polished and look fantastic inside cars with wire wheels. Please call for prices.

RACING NEWS

Powertorque Morgan Motor Company Challenge

The 2006 season is now finished and we congratulate Russell Patterson in taking the overall championship in his Morgan Roadster Lightweight. Russell succeeds Simon Orebi-Gann who also won the championship in his Roadster Lightweight last year.

We also salute our customers Phillip Goddard for winning Class C8 (for standard Morgan +8s – 3.9 litres) with Leigh Sebba coming 2nd overall in the same class. Sharlie Goddard finished a fine 3rd in Class D (for standard Morgan +8s of 3.5 litres).

Peter Horsman took a back seat this year as other commitments vied for his attention. Nevertheless, Peter took 3 class wins reminding the other runners how quick he can be in his very rapid Class B Morgan. We also welcomed back Mathew Wurr in his Class A Morgan ‘99OK’.

We also mention Ray Higgs who has persevered with his Roadster Lightweight, which for this season, has been competing in the highly competitive Class B for modified Morgans.

We were also delighted to support Steve McDonald, Peter Henry and Chris Springall with their Morgan +8s in the MMCC this year.

Historic Racing

We have had a very busy year attending every round of the MMCC race series and a number of classic and historic events.

A highlight of our year has been the tremendous response to our launch of the Techniques Trophy – ably won by Jack Bellinger in the historic Morgan +4 ‘XOV’.

It turned out to be a fantastic day with an epic race that went right down to the wire. The Techniques Trophy is anticipated to be a permanent fixture in Morgan historic racing.

Close on its heals for thrills was taking Adrian Van Der Kroft’s beautiful Morgan +4 SLR to Goodwood to compete in the world famous Revival meeting. Adrian lined up on the front row alongside the similar SLR of Keith Ahlers. Both SLRs were the stars of the field with Adrian following Keith home to a Morgan 1-2 finish in the prestigious Fordwater Trophy.

Finally, we were back at Le Mans Classic with John Clarke and his super little Morgan 4-4 LM. Restored and maintained by Techniques, this pre war Morgan amazed us all by finishing its third Le Mans Classic in front of a huge contingent of Morgan owners.

We were also there to see Adrian Van Der Kroft’s Techniques prepared Morgans finish well up the field. His pre war Morgan 4-4 TT acquitted itself well and his Morgan +4 ‘XOV’ narrowly missed out on regaining the Index of Performance which it won in 2004.
