MORGAN CAR SALES NEWS

We have had a busy spring uniting new and pre owned Morgans with new customers. Our Morgan Roadster Lightweight has found a new home and should be out competing in the Morgan Challenge race series very soon.

One of our lucky customers has now taken delivery of his Morgan Aeromax. The Aeromax is limited to a production of 100 examples and all were quickly snapped up.

The Aeromax is the first Morgan to receive the new 4.8 litre BMW V8 engine producing 362bhp – a healthy increase of 42bhp from the 4.4L. Also for the first time, the Aeromax is being offered with the option of a 6 speed automatic gearbox. Using the ZF 6HP 26 gearbox, it is the fastest changing gearbox in the world and has proven to be quicker than an Aeromax fitted with a manual gearbox. The 0-60mph is reckoned to be a scorching 4.2secs!

This Morgan Roadster 4 seater was recently supplied to one of our customers in North London and in our opinion has to be the ultimate 4 seater Morgan. The revised hood styling with colour coded side screens now make this a very attractive Morgan. Coupled with the 3.0 ltr engine it now has the performance of any traditional Morgan.

Our stock of pre owned Morgans is constantly changing so please contact us with your requirements. We can also supply a new Morgan, the waiting list maybe shorter than you think.

SERVICING & REPAIRS NEWS

Techniques look after a number of Morgan Aero 8s from the earliest cars to the current cars with revised headlights. We have a complete range of diagnostic equipment and can provide a full service as required to meet the Morgan factory warranty.

The Morgan Aero 8 has fantastic handling but to get the best out of your car we recommend the following:

  • Check that your suspension geometry is correctly adjusted
  • Consider fitting 255.35.18 Avon tyres on the rear. These will fit on the standard wheel and retains the same rolling circumference. We recommend leaving the standard 225 Avon tyres on the front. With this simple modification, our customers find that traction is greatly improved.

Some of our customers travel great distances to take advantage of our servicing and Morgan improvement know-how. We have recently completed work to a Morgan +8 from Norway which was booked in for an uprated engine and exhaust, replacement aluminium radiator and oil cooler, front suspension improvements and a full service.

For rack and pinion Morgan +8s (1985 on), we recommend you upgrade to the latest Steering Bearing Kit. This significantly lightens the steering of your Morgan. We remove the damper blade and bronze washer and replace springs and bearings. The difference is quite remarkable.

Finned Brake Drums

Our Afin drums have been selling well and are proven on road and track. They are available to fit Morgan models with wire or alloy wheels and when polished look fantastic with wire wheels. Please call for prices.

Alloy Radiators and Fuel Tanks

Techniques supply their own alloy radiator and fuel tanks for all Morgan models. Our radiators are lighter than standard items and are more efficient at cooling your car. Larger capacity tanks are especially useful for the larger engined Morgans allowing you to travel further between fuel stops. Please call for more details.

These stainless steel door check straps are proving very popular. They keep the door open preventing many a scrape on the shin. They are easily fitted and come with all the parts you need. We can normally despatch these items the next day.

2008 Le Mans Classic

July marked the 4th running of the Le Mans Classic. Techniques prepared and supported three Morgans at Le Mans this year, one Morgan 4-4 and two Morgan +4s.

In front of a huge contingent from the MSCC, French and Dutch Morgan clubs our customers cars were hugely successful. John Clarke's 1938 Morgan 4-4, driven by Tony Lees, Leigh Sebba and Richard Plant came 1st in the indexed team classification, John Emberson partnered by Bill Wykeham drove John's 1961 +4 to a fine 3rd place on index of performance and Adrian Van der Kroft and Chris Conoley took "XOV 555" to a superb 9th place overall.

The Techniques Trophy

Silverstone circuit was the venue for the 3rd running of the Techniques Trophy for 4 cylinder Morgans. This race attracts Morgan +4s and Morgan 4/4s from all areas of Morgan motorsport bringing them together for a unique race.

This year, Billy Bellinger was victorious after a thrilling race where the lead seemed to change hands every lap. Billy (4/4) was chased right to the flag by Mark Gilbart-Smith (Rover +4) and Jonathon Rushton (TR +4).

On a damp track, Barry Sumner gave everyone a lesson in car control. Despite losing the lead, Barry was awarded driver of the day. This year, the awards were presented by Andy Garlick.

TECHNIQUES STAFF NEWS

We are pleased to announce two additions to our workshop. Martin returns to Techniques after having a break with us for a couple of years. Martin brings his considerable knowledge of Morgans to the team, but now his hair is much shorter!! How this affects his work we cannot tell, however, he has certainly made some of our older customers take a second look!!

James has now joined us full time having completed his college studies. James spent a useful summer down at the Morgan factory learning at first hand how Morgans are put together.

James and Martin join Alan, Trevor and John in the workshop. Tracy and Brian remain front of house. We are beginning to burst at the seams but happily we all rub along well.
